Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, spoke by telephone, this Tuesday afternoon, with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky. On the agenda was the armed conflict that opposes that country to Russia and the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
With regard to the conflict with Russia, says the same source, Zelensky thanked Cape Verde for its “firm position” from the outset, condemning the invasion of part of Ukrainian territory by Russian forces, a position he considers consistent with respect of the Cape Verdean State to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of States.
PR will visit Ukraine
According to a statement issued by the presidency of the republic, Zelensky invited José Maria Neves to visit Ukraine, in Eastern Europe, an invitation that was accepted, with a date yet to be indicated.
The Ukrainian President also expressed his readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Cape Verde, namely within the scope of the Grain of Ukraine initiative, a humanitarian program in terms of cereal exports, which aims to benefit, above all, African countries.
