Africa-Press – Cape verde. The document consulted by Inforpress indicates that for both the chamber and the assembly the number of female voters was greater than the number of male voters, by approximately 200 voters.

Of the 8,002 voters, 4,100 were female, corresponding to 51.23 percent (%) and 3,902 were male, representing 48.76%.

Of the 15,896 registered voters, a total of 8,002 (50.33%) exercised the right to vote and 7,894 (49.66%) abstained.

For the chamber, the PAICV candidacy led by Nuías Silva garnered 5,574 votes, equivalent to 69.6%, against 2,192 votes for the MpD candidacy, representing 27.3% and the UCID candidacy, 112 votes, corresponding to 1.3%.

For the municipal assembly, the PAICV list obtained 5,425 votes (67.79%), the MpD list obtained 2,281 votes (28.5%) and the UCID list obtained 137 votes (1.7%).

The PAICV candidate for mayor, Nuías Silva, obtained 149 more votes than the candidate for assembly (5,574 and 5,425 votes respectively), while the candidates for the MpD (Vanuza Barbosa) and the UCID (Henrique Cardoso Gomes) obtained more votes than the candidates for mayor, namely António Cardoso and Egídio de Pina.

The intermediate count was completed early on Wednesday evening and for the council the PAICV fills the seven seats, mayor and six councillors, and for the assembly the composition is 12 municipal elected officials for the PAICV and five elected officials for the MpD.

Compared to the 2020 elections, the MpD lost three members, going from eight to five, while the PAICV increased the number of municipal elected officials from nine to 12.
