Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Civil Police (PJ), through the Crimes Against Persons Investigation Unit, arrested a 27-year-old man on Tuesday night, the 26th, in the Paiol do Coqueiro neighborhood of Praia. He was suspected of committing attempted murder with a firearm against a 20-year-old male resident in the same area.
According to the PC on Thursday, the 27th, the incident occurred around 8:20 pm, when a police officer at the institution, who was in the area, heard a gunshot.
The officer immediately responded to the scene, whereupon the suspect attempted to flee. He was pursued and captured minutes later, still in the same neighborhood.
At the time of his arrest, the man was in possession of a 6.35 mm pistol, suspected of having been used in the shooting. The pistol was seized and submitted for forensic analysis.
Presented to the competent judicial authorities, the accused, a Cape Verdean national, was subjected to the first judicial interrogation at the Praia District Court, which decreed periodic presentation to the PJ as a coercive measure.
