Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of State, Family, Inclusion and Social Development, Fernando Elísio Freire, also responsible for the labor portfolio, participates today on the 13th of this month at the 112th ILO International Labor Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
In a press release, the Ministry that oversees it states that the event will take place from the 3rd to the 14th of this month and brings together representatives of governments, workers and employers from around the world to discuss crucial topics about the future of work.
“During the conference, government, employer and worker delegates from the 187 ILO member states will debate a wide range of issues, including the protection of workers against the effects of climate change and biological hazards, the care economy and fundamental principles and rights at work,” he said.
Furthermore, reports the same source, the conference will elect the members of the board of directors of the International Labor Organization (ILO) for the 2024-2027 term.
Fernando Elísio Freire will speak at today’s plenary session, between 11:30 and 15:30, Cape Verde time. The minister’s agenda for this Tuesday also includes a courtesy visit to the director general of the ILO, Gilbert F. Houngbo.
Still in Geneva, the minister will also participate in the Inaugural Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice, which should take place on Thursday, 13th, on the sidelines of the 112th Session of the International Labor Conference (CIT), at the Palace of Nations.
“The Forum will bring together more than 250 partners from the Global Coalition for Social Justice and will present concrete actions aligned with their thematic areas”, highlights the note, which adds that there will be three thematic dialogues: “Building the resilience of societies”, “Improving coherence between economic and social policies” and “Promoting social dialogue for shared prosperity”.
The event, according to the Ministry of Family, Inclusion and Social Development, will highlight collaborative actions in favor of social justice carried out by partners, reinforcing the commitment to the thematic areas defined by the coalition.
