The re-elected president of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), Ulisses Correia e Silva, won the party’s internal elections with an absolute majority, winning 10,371 votes, equivalent to 91.12% according to the final results released today by the MpD’s Electoral Process Office ( GPE).
According to Inforpress, and according to data from the GAPE of the MpD, Ulisses got a significant number of votes in Santa Catarina do Fogo with 98.15% of the votes, while his opponent Orlando Dias won only 8.88% of the militants .

The abstention rate was around 64.38% and in the universe of 32,560 subscribers, more than 20,962 registered voters preferred not to attend the polls.
As for the diaspora, according to percentage, the majority of votes for Ulisses Correia e Silva were centered in Europe, more precisely in Spain with 100%, having secured 96.90% in the United States of America.

In a statement to the press on Rua Eusébio, in Achada Santo António, after his re-election as president of the MpD on Sunday, the 16th, he said that there will be changes to the statutes and that these changes will allow the MpD to be stronger in terms of power location, neighborhoods, municipalities, regions and the country.
According to the Cape Verdean Prime Minister, this victory also legitimized the commitment to continue to have the MpD as a winning party and with the prospect of winning the next municipal and legislative elections in 2024 and 2026, respectively.
In the elections, the delegates to the XIII National Convention, scheduled for 26 to 28 May, were also chosen.
It should be noted that in the last internal clash of the party Ulisses won around 98% of the votes, now down to 91.12%.
