Africa-Press – Cape verde. The municipal market of Porto Inglês, on the island of Maio, will host the third edition of the ‘Finka Pê’ fair next Saturday, an initiative that combines support for local production with cultural celebrations, the city hall announced this Tuesday.
According to Inforpress, the event, scheduled for February 14th, is dedicated to the celebration of Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday, seeking to give “greater visibility” to the island’s economic agents, from farmers and breeders to artisans and fishmongers.
In a statement, the Maio City Hall emphasized that the fair, with an agro-food and cultural focus, has as its central objective “to encourage local production, boost sales and strengthen the economy of families”.
The initiative also aims to value the island’s culture and gastronomy, functioning as a showcase for food production cooperatives and small local businesses.
In addition to the commercial aspect, the event’s program includes entertainment and cultural presentations with the participation of artists from the island.
