Africa-Press – Cape verde. A 60-year-old woman, of German nationality, died this Friday, victim of a car accident, on the Chã João Vaz road, in the city of Pombas, in the municipality of Paul, in Santo Antão. The companion was transferred to São Vicente in serious condition.
According to the commander of the Paul Police Station, Danielson Mendes, quoted by Inforpress, the accident occurred around 1:30 pm, involving a public transport vehicle.
In hiace were the driver, a tour guide and two tourists, both of German nationality.

According to the same source, the victim was admitted to Paul’s health station already dead and the other tourist in serious condition. The driver and tour guide, both Cape Verdeans, are stable.
“It is presumed that the cause of the accident could be a mechanical failure, that is, a failure in the braking mechanism, on a descent with a steep slope, causing a fall of about 33 meters in height, being overturned”, explained the captain.
As for the other victims, Paul’s health delegate, Evadilve do Rosário, said they were transferred to the João Morais Regional Hospital.

From this hospital, the clinical director of the João Morais Regional Hospital, Júlia Santos, said that the tourist was transferred to the Batista de Sousa Hospital, in São Vicente and his condition requires care.
“The driver and the tour guide are stable, under observation, at the João Morais Regional Hospital”, he concluded.
