Porto Novo: Degradation of the Municipal Stadium turf worries players

Africa-Press – Cape verde. In preparation for the 2022/23 football season, players from the municipality of Porto Novo are concerned about the degradation of the Municipal Stadium turf and ask for its replacement or, at least, some repair. The Chamber says it needs 25 million escudos to replace the lawn and improve infrastructure conditions.

Already 13 years old, the synthetic turf of the Estádio Municipal do Porto Novo is very degraded to the point of leading football practitioners in this sporting region to ask for the replacement of synthetic.

“In Porto Novo Municipal Stadium there is no more grass. There are only erasers. Someone entitled to do something”, appealed Levidson Santos, suggesting that at least maintenance be done.

“A shame”

Another practitioner, Paulo Garcia, believes that the Porto Novo municipal grass represents “a disgrace” and, in his view, should be replaced.

For Jorge Silva, another football lover, the Porto Novo Municipal Stadium does not present conditions for the practice of football, urging the city council to mobilize the means with a view to replacing the synthetic, which is very deteriorated.

conscious autarky

The municipality itself says it is aware that the Municipal stadium is crying out for a new lawn but says it does not have, at this time, the resources to put a new lawn on this sports infrastructure.

The Porto Novo City Council says it needs 25 million escudos to replace the grass and carry out other interventions in the Municipal Stadium, which is still calling for work on the changing rooms and the tribune (roof).
