Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), Ulisses Correia e Silva, is expected on September 13th in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, to swear in the party’s new municipal committee, the party announced today, as reported by Inforpress on Monday.

The new MpD Municipal Committee in Porto Novo, elected on July 20th for a three-year term, is chaired by Damião Medina, a member of the National Assembly, who was the only candidate for the party leadership in the Porto Novo political region.

Damião Medina, who previously served as MpD coordinator between 2013 and 2022, promised to build the local party through “strong and autonomous leadership, with a clear vision, agenda, and political strategy close to the party’s base.”

The MpD’s structures have been led for the past three years by Professor Carlita Santos, a municipal assemblywoman.
