Presidency of the Republic and Government offer condolences on the death of Queen Isabel II

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Presidency of the Republic and the Government of Cape Verde addressed messages of condolence to King Charles III, for the death, this Thursday, of Queen Elizabeth II, of the United Kingdom.

“It was with great sadness and immense sorrow that I received the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She indelibly marks the history of the United Kingdom and the world, for her example of perseverance and leadership throughout her 70 years of reign, and for the constant progress of her people. A true source of inspiration”, reads the letter sent to Buckingham Palace by the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves.

The Head of State offered his condolences “on behalf of the people of Cape Verde” and in his own words, which he said, extended to all the British people.

The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva (UCS), also addressed a letter of condolence, “on behalf of the people of Cape Verde”, to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, expressing “deep condolences” on the death of the monarch, 96 years old.

“Our deepest thoughts and prayers are conveyed to all of Her Majesty’s former subjects, including those in the nations of the United Kingdom and throughout the Commonwealth. With equal sincerity, we express our warmest wishes to His Majesty, King Carlos III, hoping that his reign will be long and prosperous”, wrote Ulisses Correia e Silva.

The chief executive remembers the Queen as “a monarch of singular character, skill and presence”.

“Beyond the unprecedented length of her reign were the extraordinary ways in which she inspired and connected with her subjects, along with so many members of the international community. All over the world and even during the most turbulent times, she was a beacon of stability, grace and humility,” she considered.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away this Thursday, at the age of 96, after a reign of 70 years, the longest in the history of the United Kingdom.
