Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Association of Parents and Friends of Children and Young People with Special Needs – Colmeia, Isabel Moniz, was distinguished with the Certificate of Excellence 2021, awarded by the Observatory of Active Citizenship of Cape Verde (OCA), for the work carried out in terms of defense and promoting inclusion.
“A noble mission” developed over the years, as the observatory underlines in a press release, and which deserves “recognition and gratitude for the “extraordinary” work carried out on behalf of children and young people with special needs.
Isabel Moniz, who has been leading the association for eight years, says she receives the distinction with “satisfaction and responsibility” and stresses that it is a team effort, which Colmeia also owes to its employees, friends and partners.
In light of the Observatory’s statutes, the Certificate of Excellence is the highest distinction made by the NGO, every year, and which has already awarded, in the last three years, the writer Germano Almeida, the Environmentalist Association Biosphere I and the activist and president of Acrides , Lourença Tavares.
The delivery of the Certificate of Excellence, referring to the year 2021, will be made in a public ceremony taking place in the city of Praia, on the 10th of September.
