Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Portuguese Pharmacists’ Association, Hélder Mota Filipe, began a two-day official visit to Cape Verde this Monday with the aim of strengthening cooperation in terms of professionals, but also in the area of ​​medicines.

“I hope that we can strengthen this collaboration between the two orders, between the pharmaceutical profession in Portugal and Cape Verde, but also in the area of ​​medicine, that we can strengthen and develop activities that allow both access and quality of medicines”, said Helder Mota Filipe after a meeting with the Portuguese ambassador.

Speaking to the press, the president highlighted that the visit takes place in the context of the inauguration of the new president of the Order of Pharmacists of Cape Verde and intends, in addition to presenting greetings, to consolidate the existing collaboration.

“This visit comes in the context of the inauguration of the new president of the Order of Pharmacists of Cape Verde and we take advantage of the visit to not only present greetings, but also to maintain the good relationship of collaboration between our orders”, stated Hélder Mota Filipe.

During his stay, the president also has meetings scheduled with the Minister of Health, with fellow Cape Verdean pharmacists, with the administration and professionals of the Agostinho Neto Hospital, among other relevant entities in the sector.

Mota Filipe highlighted the importance of reviewing existing protocols and identifying new areas of cooperation that aim to improve access and quality of medicines, as well as promoting more differentiated pharmaceutical intervention.

“The Order of Pharmacists of Cape Verde has been a very active voice in the development of the profession in the Portuguese-speaking world, both from a technical and political point of view,” he stressed.

The president also highlighted that both the Portuguese and Cape Verdean orders are members of the Association of Pharmacists of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (AFPLP), which broadens the scope of collaboration in the context of Portuguese-Speaking African Countries (PALOP) and the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).
