Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, receives, this Monday, the 8th, the Cape Verdean Olympic delegation Paris 2024, on the eve of departure for the largest ever representation of Cape Verde in what is considered the largest and most prestigious international multi-sport event in the world.
The protocol moment, which expresses the union of the entire Nation in support of our qualified athletes, will be the stage for the traditional handover of the national flag to the delegation, also comprising the technical team and those responsible for the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee.
The activity is part of Cape Verde’s preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which takes place in Praia and includes a pre-training period, with the participation of the entire Olympic delegation, before leaving for France.
The delegation to be received by the Head of State comprises a total of 24 members, including five qualified athletes: David Pina (boxing), Ivanusa Moreira (boxing), Victor Alvares (fencing), Djamila Silva (judo) and José Tati (swimming).
This delegation will also include five coaches (Boxing, Fencing, Judo and Swimming), six team officials, in addition to the Head of Mission, Léo Moreau, the doctor, the physiotherapist, the physical trainer, the psychologist and the COC managers.
Cape Verde will be at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with seven athletes: Jayla Pina and José Tati in swimming, Samuel Freire in athletics (marathon), Victor Alvares in fencing (foil), David Pina and Nancy Moreira in boxing (51 kg and 66 kg, respectively) and Djamila Correia e Silva (judo).
