The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, today congratulated the country on the certification by the World Health Organization (WHO), which confirms the elimination of measles and rubella in Cape Verde. For the Head of State, this achievement is a direct result of the continued work of different governments and health professionals, a joint effort that he considers exemplary.
“We are to be congratulated,” wrote the President on Facebook, emphasizing that this milestone demonstrates that, in areas essential for improving the quality of life and well-being of the population, it is fundamental to prioritize consensus, merit, and the effectiveness of public services.
José Maria Neves also gave special recognition to the staff of the National Health System, to whom he attributes a decisive role in this enormous victory.
Despite the certification, the President calls for continued work and vigilance.
