Africa-Press – Cape verde. The António Januário Leite High School, in Paul, Santo Antão, was the target of a qualified theft this week, the information was confirmed by the commander of the local police station, who revealed that the investigation is underway to identify those responsible.
Speaking to journalists, Alfredo Lopes explained that the police became aware at the beginning of the week of the incident at the António Januário Leite High School, where a qualified theft was reported that resulted in the theft of two laptops and a mobile phone.
“We carried out the survey and found traces of the suspects. We reported the complaint to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the case is in the investigation phase. We are conducting investigations with the aim of identifying the perpetrators and recovering the stolen objects”, he stated.
The same source also indicated that there is a “weakness” in terms of security in the building, especially in the rear part, which borders an agricultural property.
“There is a need to reinforce security in this area, to prevent people with bad intentions from accessing the interior of the building”, he stated.
Despite this incident, the commander sought to reassure the population, reminding them that Paul is a peaceful city in terms of crime.
“We appeal to citizens to remain calm, so that they maintain emotional stability. However, we also ask that, when in doubt, people do not acquire objects of suspicious origin. Anyone who buys products from crime may be prosecuted for receiving stolen goods”, he warned.
Alfredo Lopes also suggested that, in case of suspicions or information about the crime, the population use the emergency telephone number 132 to make reports, and can do so anonymously.
Inforpress contacted the school’s management, but they refused to provide any clarification on the case, claiming that it was already under the jurisdiction of the police.
