Africa-Press – Cape verde. The municipalities of São Filipe and Mosteiros today congratulated Moisés Rodrigues, a native of Fogo Island, for becoming the first Cape Verdean elected mayor of Brockton, in the United States of America.
The mayor of São Filipe, Nuias Silva, on behalf of his entire team, hailed the achievement as a demonstration of the courage, talent, and determination of the people of Fogo.
“Moisés Rodrigues symbolizes the strength, work, and spirit of overcoming adversity of our people, proving that, with faith, effort, and dedication, dreams have no limits or borders,” says a note from the São Filipe municipality published on its social media page.
The achievement, according to the note, represents a “historic milestone” for the Cape Verdean community and especially for Fogo Island, reinforcing the international visibility of citizens who, like Moisés, carry with them the identity and values of Cape Verde.
The Municipality of São Filipe highlighted that this moment is a source of pride for all residents and reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting the name of São Filipe and Fogo Island worldwide, valuing citizens who excel both within and outside the country.
In addition to São Filipe, the Municipality of Mosteiros also sent congratulations to Moisés Rodrigues, recognizing the historical significance of his election.
