Africa-Press – Cape verde. The City Hall of São Miguel, in the interior of Santiago, inaugurated this Saturday the urban and environmental requalification works of the Rabelados region, in Achada Pizzara, a long-standing demand of the residents, with an investment of six thousand contos.
The inauguration ceremony of this infrastructure, which was attended by residents, citizens, councilors and municipal elected officials, was presided over by the local mayor, Hermênio Fernandes.
The work, financed 100 percent (%) with city revenues, includes paving the road, green spaces, sidewalks and improvements to the water network.
On the occasion, the mayor of São Miguel considered the day “important”, arguing that today they placed another stone in the construction of a municipality “healthier, greener, cleaner, more organized and with better conditions to live, work, visit and invest”.
“This community is within the city, but before we made this transformation, people said that it was not part of the city of Calheta. Considering that we are a chamber and leadership that leaves no one behind stone by stone and year after year we have brought about transformations, improved accessibility and better social facilities (…)”, he concluded.
For all these reasons, Herménio Fernandes has no doubt that the work, now inaugurated, and others completed and in progress will improve the quality of life of residents and the local economy.
He added that urban and environmental requalification works have encouraged residents to improve their homes, emigrants to invest in the municipality, and merchants to expand their businesses, creating more economic opportunities and more jobs.
