Africa-Press – Cape verde. Two men, aged 29 and 44, were surprised on Monday, 20th, by the Judiciary Police (PJ) in Ribeira Bote, in São Vicente, in possession of two kilograms of a product that, when tested, reacted positive for hashish.

In a statement, the PJ indicated that the two male individuals, born in São Vicente, one of whom resides in the town of Ribeira de Craquinha and the other in Calhau, were carrying the drugs in a taxi, a vehicle also subsequently seized, two cell phones and a sum of money that were with the detainees.

The operation was carried out on Monday, 20th, by the Judiciary Police of São Vicente, through its Drug Trafficking Investigation Brigade (BITE), directed to the Ribeira Bote area, “a location considered one of the main areas of sale and consumption of narcotics”, in the city of Mindelo.

The detainees were presented to the competent judicial authorities for the first judicial interrogation of detained defendants, with the São Vicente District Court applying, as a measure of coercion, preventive detention for one and, for the other, periodic presentation to the authorities and ban on leaving the country until the outcome of the process.
