Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Union of General Industry, Food, Civil Construction and Services (Siacsa) denounced on Friday there was pressure from the Ministry of Justice, so that the newly graduated prison agents signed the employment contract that considers precarious.
In a press conference, the president of Siacsa, Gilberto Lima, said that prison officers are going through a “situation of injury and labor precariousness”, after having signed the employment contract, which forces them to go through another probationary internship of 12 months.
That union representative made known that the recent graduates, only signed that contract of employment because they were “pressured and coerced” by the Ministry of Justice, which also threatened them with the exclusion of the list of the 50 agents if they did not sign the contract.
As Gilberto Lima advanced, there was no change in the points in disagreement between the protection of the Justice and the recent prison agents, in fact, stressed that there was yes, inclusion of some rights that were implied in the previous contract.
He explained that this contract only takes effect after its publication in the Official Bulletin, but the Ministry of Justice made a call for a meeting with the recent graduates at 8 a.m. on Friday, noting that some agents have been forced to remain in their jobs since yesterday.
“A kind of insult and lack of respect,” said Gilberto Lima, for whom these workers did not want to sign this type of contract that harms them, stressing that the Ministry of Justice threatened that it could advance the list of 49, which they call reserve agents.
“Elect then they did, because of money, which they need it so much,” he noted that with this attitude the Ministry of Justice placed the agents in the situation of precarious labor precariousness, so he promised to resort to the higher courts to manifest what he considers to be done in a hurry and poorly conducted.
He claimed that this process should be completed, but it has not even begun, since it has not yet been published and the newly graduated prison agents will have to start their probationary stages formations, something that has already been done after completing the professional training more specific training.
He argued on the other hand, that recent prison agents have the right to own a weapon of personal defense because the country is experiencing moments of increased crime, so he promised that they will continue to pay attention to the rights and interests of the agents and perhaps the possible reprisals that may arise.
