Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cabo Verde Airlines (TACV) today operated a charter flight between Nice and Praia, an initiative that responds to the request of the Cape Verdean community living in the south of France, announced its commercial director, Eunice Barbosa.
In an interview with Inforpress, the director explained that this was a one-off operation, resulting from a request from “a dynamic group” of Cape Verdeans living in the south of France and that it involved the businessman from the Falucho Group.
“Today is the first flight and it will arrive in Praia around 2 pm and return on August 26 to Nice,” he said, adding that the objective is to serve the Cape Verdean community living in that French region, namely Nice and Marseille.
According to Eunice Barbosa, this is a first experience that is occurring positively, with an estimated occupancy rate of around 75%.
“They certainly offered a very affordable price for our community in France, but I can’t give you the specific charter prices, but it was agreed with them, and they handle individual distribution,” he emphasized.
The official emphasized that the initiative could be repeated on celebratory dates, such as Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other festivities of interest to the diaspora.
New flights are already scheduled for 2026, depending on demand and partnerships established.
He assured that TACV, as a national airline, is available to collaborate in similar future operations, as long as requested by organized groups, businesspeople or tour operators.
“We are open to proposals for charter flights upon request, but we already fly to countries that cover our community, in general, such as Portugal and France, through Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris,” he said.
Eunice Barbosa noted that the Cape Verdean community in southern France, being off the beaten track, expressed specific interest in a direct flight, which led to this one-off operation.
