UCID presents António Monteiro as a candidate for the São Vicente chamber for the sixth time

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The former president of the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID) and national deputy António Monteiro is the party’s candidate for the 2024 municipal elections in São Vicente, this being the sixth time he has run for office.

The information was confirmed today, in a press conference, by the president of the UCID, João Santos Luís, justifying that the island of São Vicente “cannot continue in the stagnation” in which it finds itself with the current mayor.

According to Santos Luís, Augusto Neves is “anti-dialogue, authoritarian” and has “weak technical capacity and no conditions to look for appropriate solutions that serve the island and place it at a different level of development”.

“It is our firm conviction that the UCID candidate for the 2024 municipal elections in São Vicente, engineer António Delgado Monteiro, has the strategic vision, wisdom and necessary humility, attributes that we consider decisive to capitalize on the enormous potential that the island holds”, considered.

According to the same source, the candidate is aware of his responsibilities and knows the island “very well”, “its difficulties and its strengths” and, as such, “is in a position to serve São Vicente and its population in the best way possible.” possible and not make use of São Vicente as has been happening with the successive mandates of the current building”.

For the politician, the “economic and social decline of the island” leads the UCID to state that “a new turn for São Vicente is urgent” that “potentiates all the strengths and potential” of the island.

Asked what the arguments will be to convince the electorate to bet on António Monteiro, as this is the sixth time he has run for president of the São Vicente City Council, João Luís revealed that the arguments are the projects that will be presented, which cover the entire population of São Vicente.
