Africa-Press – Cape verde. Democracy and Human Rights in a changing world” is the theme of a conference to be given on Monday, 27th, by the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, at the University of Santiago, in Assomada.
The colloquium, according to a note from the Presidency of the Republic sent to Inforpress, is part of the Academic Week 2024 of the University of Santiago (US), which takes place from the 27th to the 31st of this year and takes place at the campuses of Assomada and from the City of Praia.
US Academic Week aims to celebrate and bring academia closer to the community, involving it in social intervention and cultural mobilization programs, in addition to promoting synergies in favor of actions that promote, directly or indirectly, individual and collective well-being.
Under the motto “Give a voice to voices”, the UC Academic Week also features a list of activities aimed at the community, mobilizing different segments and groups to intervene in the process of local and national socio-economic development.
“In this way, the University of Santiago also believes it adds value to academic knowledge, transforming it into a socially relevant and useful asset for society, with a view to improving the quality of life of populations, sustainable development, peace, social justice and the promotion of cultural values”, writes the presidential letter.
