Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Lajedos agricultural fair, in the municipality of Porto Novo, Santo Antão, will be revived this year by women entrepreneurs from this municipality, in partnership with the city hall.
Inforpress learned from women entrepreneurs that the revival of the Lajedos fair, one of the oldest in the municipality of Porto Novo, is a concern for the group, which is preparing, in partnership with the city hall, to revive this event.
In a recent meeting with the President of the Republic, during a visit to Santo Antão, the women entrepreneurs expressed their desire to recover this fair, conceived within the scope of the Lajedos community development project, run by the non-governmental organization Atelier Mar.
The mayor of Porto Novo, Elisa Pinheiro, guaranteed that her administration will be a partner in the revival of the fair, ensuring all logistical support to the women entrepreneurs.
The municipality of Porto Novo hosts around a dozen agricultural fairs throughout the year, the most emblematic being the Santo Antão agricultural fair (Fepasa), which takes place in June as part of the São João festivities.
This year, the event will last five days and is expected to feature around one hundred local and national exhibitors.
