Matchu Lopes, Mitu Monteiro and Ailton Cozzolino, the three kitesurfing world champions advance to the semifinals of the 1st Kitesurfing World Circuit, which takes place on Ponta Preta beach. Mitú Monteiro, who needs no introduction, with several world titles under his belt, qualified for the semifinals by eliminating the experienced Brazilian Sebastian Ribeiro in the quarterfinals.
Already the Cape Verdean naturalized Spanish, Matchú Lopes, who was also world champion, also qualified for the final, with strong support from the home public, by leaving the South African M. Maxwell on the way.
Likewise, the Italian-Cape Verdean Ailton Cozzolino, also with a world title under his belt, qualified for the semi-finals in a very close fight with the Canadian Mreece Myerscough.
