
Africa-Press – Eswatini. Lieutenant General Ian Khama, the former Botswana President has called for the removal of the current President Mokgweetsi Masisi through the ballot box as Botswana citizens prepare for the highly anticipated elections at the end of this month.
Speaking on Sunday morning, the former President who recently made a surprise return to his home country after being in exile for three(3) years amid alleged threats to his life, accused President Masisi of damaging Botswana democracy, destroying the economy and violating human rights.
“Goodmorning.Because he has damaged the economy and undermined our democracy, rule of law and human rights”,said the former President when responding after being asked why he urged citizens to remove the current President during the upcoming elections.
Efforts to reach President Masisi’s Spokesperson proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, former President Khama is currently campaigning and backing the Botswana Patriotic Front(BPF), one of the main opposition parties.
