PM CALLS FOR EXPANSION OF MAVUSO TRADE FAIR

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini’s economic ambitions received a powerful boost today as Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini called for the expansion of the Mavuso Trade Fair grounds.

Delivering his address at the 57th Eswatini International Trade Fair, which coincided with the nation’s 57th Independence Day, the Prime Minister emphasized that the current venue has become too small to accommodate the growing number of companies eager to showcase their innovations.

Dlamini explained that his tour of the exhibition revealed how government departments, local enterprises, MSMEs, and international companies were competing for limited space.

“It is therefore paramount for Your Majesty’s Government to prioritize the expansion of the Trade Fair grounds,” he said, stressing that this development would align with the Ingwenyama Programme of Action and the Grand Plan for National Transformation.

The PM noted that the fair has grown from a modest agricultural exhibition in 1968 into a globally recognized platform for trade and investment. Its evolution, he added, mirrors Eswatini’s journey as a nation, from a young state regaining independence to a country positioning itself as a regional hub of innovation and commerce.

By calling for the expansion of Mavuso, the Premier signaled that Eswatini is preparing for exponential growth. More space means more companies, more innovation, and more opportunities for citizens to benefit from trade and investment linkages.

Dlamini also tied this vision to Eswatini’s embrace of technology and green growth, noting that the 2025 theme, Digital Transformation: Creating Business Networks, reflects the nation’s commitment to building modern infrastructure and empowering businesses.

The PM’s message was clear: Eswatini is ready to grow beyond its current limits. Expanding the Mavuso Trade Fair grounds is not just about space, it is about creating a larger stage for Eswatini’s economic future.
