Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has left the country for the Republic of Namibia, where he will represent His Majesty King Mswati III and the Nation at the inauguration of President-Elect H.E Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah (72).

The prime minister left through the King Mswati III International Airport at around 11am. Dlamini is among the heads of state, vice presidents, and prime minister that have already confirmed that attendance at the inauguration, which will take place on March 21, 2025.

According to The Namibian, Information and Communication Technology minister Emma Theofelus on March 19, 2025 said 10 heads of state, three vice presidents and two prime ministers would be at the inauguration of the first woman president of Namibia.

This will also be the 35th Independence Day celebration to be held. Theofelus, who spoke during a press briefing at the Namibian Government information conference, did not mention the specific countries.

Theofelus told The Namibian that Government was still open for more confirmations from countries whose heads of state want to join the celebrations or send delegations.

“I also would like to communicate that because the list has not been exhausted, we continue to receive confirmations and there might be alterations to the list,” the minister added. Nandi-Ndwaitah won the elections in November last year with 57.31% of the vote, beating 14 rivals and crossing the 50% threshold to avoid a runoff.

Her victory extended the rule of the South West African People’s Organisation (SWAPO) in Namibia since independence. She succeeds Nangolo Mbumba, who has served as interim president for a year, since the death of the third president, Hage Geingob, in February of last year. Namibia gained independence in 1990.
