Currently the Executive Director of CCARDESA, a key agricultural development body in the SADC region, Professor Dlamini wears many hats: academic, leader, strategist, and changemaker. His expertise spans across agriculture, forestry, climate change, biodiversity, environmental law, development finance, sustainable development, and business leadership — making him one of the region’s most multidisciplinary thinkers.
His academic achievements are a marvel: a Ph.D. in Forestry (Stellenbosch University, RSA), M.Sc. in Sustainable Development (Sussex, UK), Mphil in Environmental Law (UCT, RSA), Executive MBA (Quantic, USA), Master of Development Finance (Stellenbosch, RSA), M.Sc. Forest Science (Stellenbosch, RSA), Mphil in Applied Business Leadership and Management (UCAM, Spain), B.Sc. Hons in Forest Science (Stellenbosch, RSA), and B.Sc. Agriculture (UNISWA).
And now, Professor Dlamini is finalizing his second doctorate — a Doctorate in Management focusing on liquid biofuels and the green and circular economies in South Africa.
“I’m finalizing the 10th university degree which could be my last,” he said during an interview with this author at Radisson Hotel, OR Tambo Airport.
“Four of my university degrees come from Stellenbosch University and one from the University of Cape Town,”

Beyond his academic feats, Dlamini holds esteemed appointments, including Associate Professor Extraordinary at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, Adjunct Professor at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Professor Extraordinarius at the University of South Africa (UNISA). He also holds the title of Chartered Development Finance Analyst with the Chartered Institute of Development Finance, a reflection of his commitment to blending theory with impactful practice.
Professor Dlamini’s passion extends beyond titles and degrees.
