Africa-Press – Eswatini. At 26, Siphumelele Treasure Simelane is steadily working toward her goal of rebuilding her late father’s house, drawing strength from personal challenges and a deep sense of responsibility.
Raised in a warm, family environment Siphumelele’s life changed forever in 2016 when she lost her father. “It was a moment that changed the course of my life,” she said. In the wake of that loss, she went to live with her grandmother, who became her source of comfort and strength, until her passing in 2021.
Rather than allow grief to define her, Siphumelele chose resilience. As the eldest of four siblings, she stepped into the role of leader, caregiver, and role model. When their mother remarried and began a new chapter, Siphumelele and her siblings found support through their paternal uncles and continued to live in their extended family home.
Despite her education ending in Form 3, she refused to be limited by circumstance. Simelane started working in a factory in Matsapha. She then enrolled in a three-month course at James and Josee, where she learned how to make floor polish and tissue oil. From those skills, a vision was born.
Today, Siphumelele is the founder of SM LELE, an emerging brand that symbolizes not just business, but healing, responsibility, and ambition. “What motivates me every day,” she says, “is the dream to rebuild my father’s house. That house means everything and it holds our history, our pain, and our hope.”
Her journey reflects the spirit of many young women who rise despite adversity, proving that determination can be the greatest education. With SM LELE, she is not only working to build a better future for her siblings, but she is also showing others that success does not come from where you start but from how fiercely you move forward.
Her next goal is to grow her brand, expand her product line, and uplift others like her—those who’ve faced setbacks but still choose to rise.In every product she creates, there is a quiet promise: that broken beginnings can lead to powerful legacies.
