Africa-Press – Eswatini. Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla has called on emaSwati to show compassion and generosity by supporting the newly launched Siphila Nabo National Clothing Collection Campaign.

Speaking through her Principal Secretary Siboniso Nkambule at the official launch held at the Baphalali Red Cross Warehouse in Matsapha on Monday, the DPM said the campaign was more than just about clothes, it was about restoring dignity and extending hope to those in need.

Nkambule, delivering her keynote address, said the drive embodied the spirit of solidarity that defined Eswatini.

“By collecting and distributing new and gently used clothing, we aim to uplift vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and those affected by hardship or disaster,” he said.

“Together, we can make a profound difference by ensuring that no one in the Kingdom is left without adequate clothing, especially as seasons change.”

The DPM’s Office pledged full government backing for the campaign, which is being run in collaboration with Philani Maswati Charity Organisation, Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society (BERCS), and Adventist Disaster Relief Agency (ADRA).

Logistics partners Freightlux and Eswatini Plastic Industries are also on board, ensuring branded donation bags and transport reach all corners of the country.

Nkambule emphasised that the campaign aligned with government’s national priorities of reducing poverty, protecting the vulnerable, and fostering inclusive development.

“This is collective action at its best, I encourage every citizen, institution, and corporate entity to participate. Your contributions and volunteer efforts can significantly improve the lives of many,” he said.

The launch event brought together faith leaders, humanitarian organisations, and community representatives, with moments of prayer, song, and pledges of support filling the warehouse hall.

As the branded collection bags are rolled out across Inkhundla centres and public spaces, citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and ensure they donate only through the official drop-off points.

Declaring the campaign officially open, Nkambule concluded:

“On behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, I launch the Siphila Nabo campaign. May it be impactful, far-reaching, and a beacon of hope for all beneficiaries.”

The clothing collection drive runs until the end of September, after which donations will be distributed to disaster-affected households, orphaned children, vulnerable families, and the elderly.
