Africa-Press – Eswatini. The University of Eswatini (UNESWA) has officially welcomed 3 462 first-year students into its vibrant academic community, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their educational journey.

The orientation, held at the University’s Sports Emporium, was filled with inspiration, encouragement, and purpose as students were guided into their new life of learning and growth.

Guest of Honour, Central Bank of Eswatini Governor Dr. Phil Mnisi, delivered a stirring keynote address that reminded the students of the challenges that come with university life but also encouraged them to remain steadfast in pursuit of their goals.

“You will face many disruptions, disappointments, and doubts in the years to come, but you must remain focused on your goal and strive to make a positive and lasting impression,” he said, drawing a round of applause.

Dr. Mnisi also invoked the timeless wisdom of Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah, who declared, “We neither face East nor West; we face forward.” He challenged the new students to embody this vision:

“When you face forward, you choose to reject distractions, but it’s not just about direction; it’s about purpose. Stay the course. There will be obstacles, but finish what you have started.”

Adding to the day’s significance, Vice Chancellor Professor Justice Thwala congratulated the new students on their admission and highlighted the balance required between academics and personal growth.

“University life is not only about academic consistency but also about enjoyment, building networks, and shaping your character. Make the most of this season, it is as much about growth as it is about achievement,” he said.

With thousands of young minds ready to embark on this transformative path, UNESWA has once again proven itself as a hub of opportunity and empowerment. The first-years left the orientation not only with renewed determination but also with a clear sense of purpose, to stay the course and finish strong.
