Africa-Press – Eswatini. Popular local comedian Mduduzi Simphiwe Dlamini, widely known by his stage name Mdzura, has officially launched the third edition of his nationwide school tour fundraising campaign.
The initiative, organized under his brand Comic Entertainment, blends laughter with a serious mission: raising funds for underprivileged students in every school the team visits. Beyond financial support, the tour serves as a motivational platform for the youth, encouraging them to pursue their visions despite the challenges they may face.
Mdzura, who discovered his comedic talent while a student at Salesian High School, has seen his initiative grow rapidly since its inception. Reflecting on the journey, he noted that the project began in 2023 with visits to 9 schools.
Last year, the campaign reached a major milestone by visiting 22 schools across Eswatini. The 2024 tour was particularly impactful, with Mdzura and his team not only providing entertainment but also donating stationery and proceeds to school charity clubs. His trending performances proved that his “edutainment” model resonates deeply with the younger generation.
As a young person himself, Mdzura believes his age gives him a unique advantage in connecting with his peers. “I started this campaign because I can see that teenagers are easily motivated by their age mates; this is an advantage to me as a teen,” he explained.
“Our main purpose is giving back to society and motivating upcoming artists to continue pursuing their visions. We visit rural, peri-urban, and urban schools to show students how to live with their talent. This encourages upcoming artists to persist in their goals to be our tomorrow’s heroes.”
The tour features a diverse range of talents, including:
Stand-up Comedy
Live Music
Stage Drama
Motivational Speaking
Building on the success of the previous years, Mdzura has set a bold target of visiting 40 schools countrywide this year.
The 2026 tour schedule is already filling up, with confirmed dates including:
February 18, 2026: Emcozini High School
February 19, 2026: Mkhuzweni High School
Early March: Mhubhe and Duze High School
Other schools on his list for this edition include Siteki Nazarene, Gundvwini, Dvokolwako, LaMawandle, Madlangemphisi, Lusoti, Ekukhanyeni, Ngwane Park, St. Paul’s, Gebeni, Nkwene, Nhlangano Central, Evelyn Baring, Swazi National, Lozitha National, ELangeni, Bosco, and KaBoyce.
Despite the positive impact on students and his growing recognition, Mdzura admits that financial constraints remain a hurdle. As the Chairman of the Campaign, he is actively seeking corporate and individual sponsorship to reach more remote rural schools.
“You do not have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great,” he remarked. “My mission is to create a strong bond with upcoming artists and help underprivileged students. Although I’m still seeking sponsorship since I’m financially unstable, that doesn’t mean I can stop giving back to society.”
