Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA), with strategic support from the European Union and the International Trade Centre (ITC), has announced the development of a National Traders Directory aimed at strengthening business linkages and improving global competitiveness for Eswatini-based traders.
The initiative, announced on April 9, 2026, seeks to create a centralized and reliable platform that captures detailed information about local traders, including the products they offer, the services they provide and the nature of their business activities. This directory is expected to become an important tool for connecting Eswatini businesses with regional and international markets while improving their visibility and access to new trade opportunities.
EIPA says the project forms part of ongoing efforts to support private sector growth by ensuring that local traders are better positioned to engage with broader markets. By organizing trader information into one accessible platform, the authority believes businesses will find it easier to network, access market intelligence and attract potential buyers and partners from outside the country.
Speaking on the initiative, Thandeka Dlamini, Manager External Trade at EIPA, emphasized the importance of participation from traders across Eswatini.
“EIPA is calling on all traders across Eswatini to participate in this important exercise. Through the directory, businesses will benefit from increased exposure, stronger networking opportunities and easier access to market intelligence. This Traders Directory is a powerful tool for Eswatini businesses to position themselves for growth,” she said.
Dlamini added that being included in the directory will not only raise the profile of businesses but will also give them access to valuable trade connections that can support long-term success in both regional and global markets.
As part of the development process, EIPA will conduct interviews with traders between March and May 2026. These interviews are designed to gather accurate and meaningful business information to ensure that each trader is properly represented in the directory. The authority says this approach will help create a comprehensive and credible database that reflects the true picture of Eswatini’s trading landscape.
The directory also reflects EIPA’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive trade environment in the country. With the expertise and global reach of the International Trade Centre supporting the process, the initiative is expected to meet international standards while addressing the specific needs of Eswatini traders.
EIPA believes that once completed, the National Traders Directory will serve as a long-term resource for promoting local enterprises, supporting export readiness and enhancing the country’s participation in global trade.
Businesses interested in being featured in the directory are encouraged to submit their details and participate in the upcoming interviews. Traders can express their interest by contacting [email protected].
The authority is confident that the initiative will strengthen trade connections, improve business visibility and create practical opportunities for Eswatini traders to expand beyond local markets.
