Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III, Commander-in-Chief of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF), has urged soldiers to carry forward the torch of the legendary faithfulness demonstrated by their predecessors, calling for unwavering vigilance and selfless service to the nation.

Delivering the keynote address during the 53rd Army Day celebrations on April 10, 2026, the King emphasised that the strength of the military lies in its discipline, unity and enduring sense of duty.

He reminded soldiers that serving in the army is not merely a profession, but a sacred calling that demands total commitment to protecting the country and its citizens at all times.

“Carry the torch of the legendary faithfulness of your predecessors. Always remain vigilant and selfless in your call of duty and service to the nation,” he said.

His Majesty stressed that although the nature of threats continues to evolve, soldiers must remain resolute and adaptable, guarding against both visible and emerging challenges that threaten national stability.

The event was graced by Her Majesty Indlovukazi, alongside former army commander Sobantu Dlamini, former National Commissioner Senator Isaac Magagula, and Edgar Hillary, a former Police Commissioner and Minister of Justice. Ntsika Fakudze Director of Legal Affairs at the King’s Office was interpreting the King’s address.

The Commander in Chief further commended the soldiers for their exceptional drills and displays, describing them as a testament to their preparedness, professionalism and operational readiness. He noted that such demonstrations reflect the army’s ability to respond effectively to any situation.

He assured the troops that the nation stands firmly behind them, recognising their sacrifices and dedication. He encouraged them to continue upholding the highest standards of discipline and loyalty as they safeguard peace, security and unity across Eswatini.

As the celebrations concluded, a strong sense of pride and unity filled the atmosphere, reinforcing the enduring bond between the military and the nation it serves.

The King’s message stood as a powerful reminder that the legacy of faithfulness must not only be preserved, but strengthened by each generation of soldiers committed to defending Eswatini.
