HEADTEACHERS GAIN VITAL FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP SKILLS

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Headteachers from across Eswatini are strengthening their leadership capacity after participating in a dynamic financial literacy training session held at Ngwane Park High School on April 9, 2026.

The impactful session, facilitated by Standard Bank, formed part of an ongoing Ministry of Education and Training engagement focused on enhancing school management and leadership effectiveness. It brought together school heads to sharpen their financial decision-making while staying informed on key developments shaping the education sector.

Principal Secretary Nanikie Mnisi highlighted that the initiative is designed to empower educators with practical financial skills, rather than endorse any specific institution. She further revealed encouraging commitments from financial partners, including support for small enrolment schools through solar energy solutions, as well as plans by Nedbank to construct an administration block in northern Hhohho.

For many participants, the training delivered more than financial insights—it opened new pathways for collaboration and innovation. Headteachers explored strategies to maximise limited resources while leveraging partnerships that can uplift school infrastructure and improve learning environments.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to fairness and inclusivity, encouraging schools to engage with various financial institutions that can offer value-added support.

Adding further depth to the session, Director of Education Dr. Tholakele Mngometulu shared insights on Eswatini’s transition to the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum, a forward-looking approach that emphasises practical skills and real-world application.

As the engagement continues, headteachers are returning to their schools better prepared to lead with confidence—equipped not only with financial expertise but also with a renewed vision for delivering quality education across the country.
