Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mbabane Highlanders’ Managing Director (MD) Ally Kgomongwe says the embarrassing brawl involving some of team’s officials on Wednesday is doing nothing but tarnishing the club’s brand.

The despicable scenes were witnessed after Highlanders’ MTN Premier League clash against Malanti Chiefs at Ka-Langa Stadium in Siteki.
The game ended in what was a dramatic 3-all draw, a result that virtually dented the ‘Black Bull’s title hopes.

The drama played itself out at the sound of the final whistle as two Highlanders’ officials exchanged blows, leaving onlookers in a state of disbelief.

This incident forced fans, players and officials to run for cover in fear of their lives as the situation threatened to turn nasty.

The quick intervention of police who were present at the venue saved the day as order was eventually restored after gun-shots were fired in the air.

Kgomongwe was clearly not impressed and wasted no time in reading the riot act to the officials implicated in the chaotic events. The Pretoria-based businessman made it known that disciplinary action would be taken against the officials.

He said his office would launch a probe on what led to the mayhem, saying heads would roll.

The ANC politician strongly condemned the behaviour, voicing out his disappointment on the club’s National Supporters Committee (NSC).

“I am still investigating the issue. I have engaged the NSC chairman and it is very disappointing when we start fighting each other as I always preach the gospel of unity in football. I am against this kind of behaviour. This is killing the team,” he said.

Kgomongwe did not rule out the possibility of the NSC being disbanded as this bad behaviour has been ongoing. “This kind of behaviour should stop. We are a big team for such bad behavior. May I urge everyone to stick to their duties and not interfere where they are not needed,” he appealed.
