Angry Madonsa youth hold hostage Stefanutti Stocks plant machinery, orders drivers to fix damaged road

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Angry youth of Madonsa in Manzini held hostage Steffanutti Stocks plant machinery on Friday and ordered the drivers to fix their road.

Various roads in eSwatini in the urban, semi-urban and rural areas were neglected by Mswati’s Government despite collecting huge taxes, resulting to a huge public outcry.

It has been disclosed that Steffanutti Stocks trucks were transporting gravel soil from Ticantfwini to construct a road from Manzini to Sikhuphe, however, the youth stopped and questioned them as to why they were digging their soil to construct other roads while neglecting the road of the area where they were sourcing the natural resources.

Mphumelelo Ntjalintjali, a resident of the area who was part of those who stopped the construction company from transporting the gravel soil confirmed that on Friday afternoon Steffanutti began fixing their road after they held their equipment and drivers hostage.

“We gathered that they feared that we might burn their machinery and they decided to fix the road. It was unfair for them to dig the soil here to construct other roads while we, the owners of the natural resource are struggling. As I am speaking to you now, they are busy fixing the road, they stated this afternoon”, said Mphumelelo Ntjalintjali when interviewed by the editor.

Efforts to reach the Management of Stefanutti Stocks proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

A questionnaire was then sent to Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Eswatini is facing a crisis of damaged roads after Mswati’s Government neglected social obligations.
