AWE 2023 GRADUATES CHALLENGING THE STATUS QUO

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) 2023 graduates have joined a network of 25 000 other women entrepreneurs, who have forged their paths and paved the way for others who dare to dream and challenge the status quo.

This was stated US Department Charged Affairs, Earl Miller, during the graduation ceremony held at the Manzini Library, American Corner yesterday.

The graduates were awarded after completing the completion of the AWE 2023 hybrid programme which was held from July.

The US mission had extended participation to Lesotho and Eswatini for the first time in its vision to support National Strategy on Gender, Equity and Equality.

Miller highlighted that the gradates were to embrace the opportunities that ahead.

“Eswatini is in desperate need of your vision, creativity and determination,” said Miller.

He stated that as women entrepreneurs, they were uniquely positioned to address the challenges of their time. “You can build businesses that not only generate profit but also make a positive impact on your communities and the planet,” said Miller.

He further advised that the road they would be embarking on may be challenging, but assured them of their preparedness.

“You are armed with knowledge, empowered by your experiences, and driven by your dreams. Let your journey be a testament to the power of education, the strength of unity, and the importance of empowering women,” he said.

Miller implored the graduates to continue and supporting and inspire each another the next generation of women who will follow in their footsteps.

“Always remember that your success is not only measured by your individual achievements but by the positive changes you can bring to Eswatini,” he said.

He stated that in a world often characterised by inequality, the graduates chose to shatter glass ceilings and break through barriers.

“You chose to embrace entrepreneurship, a perilous path filled with uncertainty and risk, but also with boundless possibilities and opportunities for growth,’ he said.

He further highlighted that the graduates had learned the art of adaptability, innovation, and the power of networking.

“You have been nurtured and inspired by your remarkable facilitator, Claudia, who believed wholeheartedly in your potential,” he said

He advised that they should let their journey be a testament to their collective values in strength, resilience, and an unwavering spirit.

“You graduates have shown the world that women can be leaders, innovators, and change-makers,” he said.
