Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) is taking its flagship Bafundzise Campaign to Siteki on Thursday, 28 August 2025, in a continued effort to educate and empower businesses on tax and customs compliance.
Speaking during a meeting with Siteki Town Council on Tuesday, ERS Director of Client Services Riccardo Kruger, who represented the Commissioner General, said the campaign had already made strides in towns such as Manzini, Mbabane, Matsapha, Ezulwini and Nhlangano.
“We have seen the impact first-hand. Businesses appreciate the face-to-face guidance and the chance to ask questions directly. Siteki is the next stop, and we are confident the campaign will have the same positive results here,” Kruger told the council.
He emphasised that working with local authorities was critical to ensuring the campaign reached as many small and medium enterprises as possible.
Siteki Town Council CEO Sithembile Simelane welcomed the initiative, noting that many businesses in the town needed more structured support to meet their tax obligations.
The Bafundzise Campaign is designed to provide hands-on support to business owners, ensuring they understand filing requirements, payment timelines and customs processes.
According to ERS, the campaign is part of a broader push to improve compliance while strengthening the relationship between the tax authority and the business community.
Kruger added that the campaign was not about penalties but about empowering businesses.
“Our role is to guide, to clarify, and to make compliance easier. When businesses are compliant, everyone benefits, from government services to the stability of our economy,” he said.
The Siteki activation is expected to draw participation from traders, entrepreneurs, and small business operators across the region, who will be given the opportunity to engage ERS officials directly.
The campaign continues to position ERS as a partner in business growth rather than just a regulator.
