Africa-Press – Eswatini. “We are not relaxing but hard at work to upgrade Mbabane Highlanders into a formidable side that can win the league.”

These were the words of Inkunz’emnyama Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe in reaction to the departure of strong centre back Peter Dlamini to Correctional Services side Green Mamba. Dlamini was signed over the weekend and started training with the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League-bound side on Monday. Speaking from Pretoria, South Africa in a telephonic interview, Kgomongwe said ‘it shows we had signed good players if Green Mamba have signed Peter’ and wished him well in his new team.

“We’re working on signing a foreign defender in his place; replace Bereng who has personal issues to attend, while we’ve already got a very fast and talented winger in ‘Ben 10’s place. There are also a couple of players we’ll sign in Eswatini as I’m told there’s a good left back interested in joining us as well as a forward,” Kgomongwe said as gifted winger Tony ‘Ben 10’ Machacha is set to re-join Ally’s Tigers in the upcoming season.

He said the Head Coach, Solly Luvhengo had already spotted some talent and negotiating with them to put pen to paper soonest ahead of their pre-season resumption on a date yet to be confirmed. “I saw as well reports that we wanted to re-sign ‘Mlaba’ back but that was never the case. ‘Mlaba’ is a very good player who came and played for us with all his heart but he did his time at Highlanders; we are going for fresh blood. He also did well saving Wanderers from relegation and we’re happy they rewarded him with a new contract,” he said.

Kgomongwe said they would only release names of their new stars once all was settled in terms of contracts than in previous seasons where the media would unveil them before the official club’s unveiling ceremony. Meanwhile, the only foreigner guaranteed further stay with the team is talented and troublesome winger Kenneth ‘Mashaba’ Moloto. The likes of ‘Ben 10’, midfielder and Lesotho international Thswarelo Bereng are not expected back, which will leave Highlanders with four open spaces for new foreign players as only five are allowed in the country per club.
