‘BOTSOTSO’ HAPPY FOR BREAKING MADLENYA JINX

Africa-Press – Eswatini. ILLOVO head coach Zweli ‘Botsotso’ Khoza says he is happy to finally break their jinx of failing to beat Madlenya.

This comes after Illovo recorded a 1-0 victory over Madlenya at Mayaluka Stadium on Sunday.

The lone goal was scored by Zamokuhle Dlamini through a wonderful strike in the first half.

This was the first victory for Illovo against Madlenya since its formation.

“I am happy to be part of this history. We have never beaten Madlenya and this makes me proud.”

He said they would continue to work hard.

Coming to the match, Khoza said he was not entirely happy with the team’s performance.

“We played in patches which almost cost us the match. I am happy with the three points but this is not to say we are now safe from relegation.”

He said their mandate was to maintain their elite league status.

“We have to take one game at a time and see where it takes us at the end of the season. We still have a long way to go and I have to encourage my players to work extra hard,” he said.

On the other hand, Madlenya head coach William ‘Masondeza’ Gamedze said the defeat was a wakeup call.

“We did not play our normal game and we lost the match. We conceded a goal from 45 yards as our goalkeeper was not well positioned.

This is a wake-up call and we need to start preparing for the next match where we hope to do well. We will go back to the drawing board and rectify our mistakes,” he said.

The former Impumelelo coach added that they would beef up their squad with new faces before the close of the January transfer window.
