Africa-Press – Eswatini. YOUNG Buffaloes managed to see off Rangers 1-0 to climb to second in the log standings.

It was an evenly matched game in the opening 15 minutes with none of the teams gaining a clear advantage.

Buffaloes almost scored in the 30th minute when Bongwa ‘Owa’ Matsebula ran rampant down left wing but missed the target. Rangers’ Mfanasbili Kunene had his hands full with keeping ‘Owa’ in check but he managed to do well.

The match went to break at 0-0

It was the second stanza which saw the match truly takeoff. Buffaloes scored the opener in the 55th minute via the boot of Njabulo Maziya, who latched on to a dropped ball out of the keeper’s hands.

The goal gave ‘Buffs’ an extra pep in their step as they went in search for the second goal. Njabulo came close to getting his brace in the 71st minute of the game, missing target after a smart cut back pass from ‘Owa’.

This sprung the home team into action as Rangers’ attacking line bombarded the Buffaloes defence.

The last 15 minutes of the game were nothing short of end to end action, with a display of both attacking intent from Rangers and defensive resilience from Buffaloes. Sibonelo Mhlanga came the closest to finding the equaliser for Rangers as his header hit the top bar and went out, after he had latched on to a deflected save from the keeper.

Despite the multiple chances, Rangers were unable to break down Buffaloes who held out for the crucial victory
