Africa-Press – Eswatini. Despite starting the season well and presently sitting at the summit of the MTN Premier League, Young Buffaloes will be very cautious when they take on winless Manzini Wanderers this afternoon.
The match will be played at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium with kick-off at 3pm. Buffaloes CEO Sandile Gwebu said the match was a very tricky one for them given the form of their opponents.
Buffaloes are undefeated so far and have been prolific in front of goal. They face a side that is bottom of the log standings with consecutive losses and no goals so far.
Gwebu said even though the hub giants were not performing well they were still a big team that deserves respect.
“This is a very tricky fixture for us because we are up against a side that is desperate to win and we will be approaching the match with caution. Wanderers are a big team regardless of their current form and this is not the ideal time to be facing them. However, we have faith in our squad after successful preparations in training this week,” he said.
The CEO also shared the secret behind their success this season, which he said was down to the hard work put in by the players in training as well as consistency in their squad selection.
Consistant
“Last season we were integrating new players into the squad, which is why we were not consistant and had a slow start to the season. We retained the same squad for the new season which has been playing together for a while which is why we have improved from last season,” he said.
Meanwhile, Manzini Wanderers assistant coach Tarisayi Changara said they would be out to secure their first win of the season and get the much needed points. The former Tambankulu Callies gaffer said they had prepared well for the fixture because they understood that the army side was a difficult opponent.
“We are going out all out for the three points because we need them more than they do and we will do whatever it takes to get them. We have prepared well and we have done everything to motivate the players who are also geared up for the fixture.
“They are ready to fight and take the club back to its respective position. We ask the fans to come and rally behind the boys as they need them more than ever heading into the match,” he said. Changara added that they do not want to put too much pressure on the boys going into the game.
A win for Buffaloes will see them stay top of the table while a win for Wanderers will move them from the bottom of the log standings.
