BUGANU FESTIVAL POSTPONED TO NEXT WEEKEND

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The much anticipated Buganu Festival which was scheduled for this weekend at Buhleni Royal Residence, has been shifted to next weekend.

According to an announcement delivered at Ludzidzini Royal Residence by Hhohho Indvuna YeLutsango Lontfombi Ndzimandze the festival will now resume on Friday March 18 where the Lutsango will deliver the buganu brew before Their Majesties.

The initial date for the festival was February 11th and 25th for Buhleni and Hlane Royal Residences, respectively.

Her Majesty the Indlovukazi was indisposed, but she returned home on Thursday, and now clears the way for the annual festival, which has not been held in the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Saturday is reserved for the song and dance session where Lutsango will dance before Their Majesties and the nation in celebrating the marula season.

Present during the briefing were Home Affairs Minister Princess Lindiwe, Lutsango Acting Chairperson Senator Princess Dzelisa andLutsango executive members among others.
The festival was supposed to kick-off yesterday with the delivery of Buganu before Their Majesties.

The second round of the event will now take place from April 1 to 3 at Hlane Royal Residence in the Lubombo region. Thefestival is not only a celebration of culture but has since become a platform for doing business especially for small businesses, who usually set up stalls and sell a variety of wares to the many people who gather for the weekend long ceremony.

The same is also used by various organisations and corporate, big and small, to showcase their products and services to the public.

This is where members of the Lutsango under the stewardship of Her Majesty the Indlovukazi also showcase other products which come from the marula. They also share ideas on livelihood skills which come off the marula after the juice, which is used to produce the brew has been extracted from the fruits.

The festival, which happens at Buhleni and followed by another at Hlane Royal Residences important to the calendar of events for Emaswati. It also plays a role in attracting tourists in the country as international visitors also come through to witness the beauty of this festival and culture of Emaswati.

What is more exciting this year is the comeback of the ceremony, which has not been hosted for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic,which has changed the way of life for the nation and the world at large.
