Africa-Press – Eswatini. MTSAMBAMA electorates made the biggest mistake in the 2018 elections as the person they voted for turned against the country’s authorities; a gathering was made to believe.
When making his remarks at Shiselweni II Inkhundla on Friday, leader of Ekwendzeni Chief Makhosikhosi Khumalo said, personally he was having regrets over his choice in the 2018 elections. He went on to tell the gathering as to why he was now regretting the decision he made.
The chief was one of the speakers during a combined event where Shiselweni II Inkhundla Council was presenting its report for the five-year period it has served in office since 2018 and also Shiselweni Forestry Company (SFC) celebrating 10 years of fire awareness and timber theft campaign. The guest speaker in the event was the Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku.
Accusing
In fact, Chief Makhosikhosi spoke on behalf of chiefs during the event, where he got a chance of dressing down Mtsambama Member of Parliament (MP) Simosakhe Shongwe, accusing him of having done nothing for the constituency other than deciding to turn against the King. Ekwendzeni is one of the areas under Mtsambama Inkhundla.
The chief said he happened to tell some of the people how the people of Mtsambama and himself blundered by voting for someone who was now seeing the Tinkhundla syystems as a monster and forgetting that it was the same ‘monster’ he used to become MP.
He first said he took note as MP Strydom Mpanza was presenting the Inkhundla Council report, where he mentioned millions of Emalangeni injected by the government of Tinkhundla in supporting projects under the constituency.
“Let me ask from MP Mpanza as to which is the government he is referring to that he is telling us it has injected millions of Emalangeni in this constituency,” the chief said.
Coming closer to the MP and directing the microphone to him to respond, MP Mpanza said he was referring to the government of Tinkhundla. After this response, the chief moved to the DPM and asked him as to who exactly was in charge of the Tinkhundla government and without stammering, the DPM answered that it was His Majesty’s government MP Mpanza was referring to.
“Now you hear some people painting this government with all names.
The government which Mpanza in his report has indicated has pumped in millions of Emalangeni nearing to billions to assist Emaswati, including people of this constituency is the same Tinkhundla government. One then wonders who these people are who are, not aware of the good work Tinkhundla is doing,” said Chief Makhosikhosi.
Picked
The chief said he picked something from the DPM in his speech, as he remarked how lucky the people of Shiselweni II were for making the right choice in 2018 elections.
He said if he had heard the DPM correctly, he advised the people of Shiselweni II not to ‘fix it’ when it is not ‘broken’.
“Masuku made mention of a span of oxen and stated that it is not something wise to replace that span of oxen if it is still doing well, and I hope people of this constituency understand what that means. I was with ‘Cruiser’ (David Ngcamphalala) yesterday (Thursday) and I mentioned this even to Mpanza about our situation at Mtsambama. I told the two that I am a walking testimony of making the wrong choice back at my constituency,” said Chief Makhosikhosi.
The chief said it was baffling to vote for someone who you believe in, only to see the person somersaulting and turning against the mandate given to him by the electorate.
“The person we voted to be our MP, decided to turn around and to ride on another horse when he made it there and turned against the system of Tinkhundla, forgetting that he got to be MP through the same system of Tinkhundla.
Tolerate
“He turned around and accused Ingwenyama of making people slaves, something he said he (MP) would not tolerate,” alleged the chief.
The chief said people of Mtsambama have never seen development due to the mistake they made by voting for someone who was now pushing his own agenda.
“We have never seen development because of the blunder we made. We thought we were making the right choice when we banked our hopes that the one we picked would make meaningful change in our lives, but look at what has happened at Mtsambama.
There has never been anything in terms of development. It’s a mistake we made and we are now victims of making the wrong choice,” said the chief.
