Africa-Press – Eswatini. Today marks a momentous occasion for Eswatini’s 44 000 civil servants, as the government begins implementing the long-awaited salary review. Information confirms that the Treasury Department processed the new salary scales over the weekend and submitted them to the banks this morning. As a result, civil servants are expected to begin receiving their adjusted salaries from after lunch today.
A well-placed source within the Treasury Department assured this publication that, “it has since been submitted to the banks for payments.”
This follows the assurance by the Minister of Finance, Neal Rijkenberg, who last Friday reaffirmed that the government was ready to deliver on its promise. In his words, “Monday, 27 October remains the official date for salary payments.”
The implementation of the reviewed salary structure is expected to bring smiles to the faces of thousands of public servants across the country. This milestone signals government’s commitment to improving the welfare of its workforce and restoring equity across different employment grades.
Notably, government will this month implement 100 percent of Category Three of the salary review. Category Three broadly covers lower and mid-level officers whose salaries had lagged behind in previous years. The full adjustment under this category ensures that the backbone of the public service, teachers, nurses, police officers, and administrative staff—finally receive fair compensation for their dedicated service.
The Minister of Finance has previously emphasized that this salary review was approached with professionalism and care, ensuring sustainability while uplifting workers. He also encouraged civil servants to spend wisely, noting that the salary adjustments present an opportunity to plan for long-term financial stability rather than short-term indulgence.
Today’s rollout is not just about numbers, it is a reaffirmation of trust between government and its employees. For many civil servants, this development brings renewed hope, motivation, and dignity. As banks begin processing the payments this afternoon, Eswatini’s public sector can look forward to a more balanced and fair wage structure that rewards service and dedication to the nation.
This historic step underscores government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and socio-economic progress—an example of policy turned into positive impact for the people.
