Africa-Press – Eswatini. There is another ticking-time bomb at already-limping hub giants Manzini Wanderers after the coach Nyangayezizwe ‘Crooks’ Hlophe opened up about how he felt about the new role of being a co-coach with Zimbabwe’s experienced and nomadic gaffer Ikabort Masocha.
Hlophe made it clear that he had no idea how the system of co-coaching worked, but was ready to learn and observe the new system. “Honestly, I haven’t been into such a set-up before, but nothing is lost.
“In life, you learn till you die, so I will adapt and learn.
“Hopefully it works out as our aim is to help the team achieve its goals, that of surviving relegation together with coach Ikarbort,” said Hlophe.

The veteran gaffer further revealed that the only challenge with the team’s decision, of making him a co-coach with Masocha, was not communicated to him, thus it took him by surprise.
He feels it would have made more sense if he was engaged on how they planned to change his working structure and the team at large.
“I feel like those responsible for the team’s management could have come and informed me about the technical changes than taking me by surprise.
‘If I was weak and had no Wanderers’ love at heart maybe I could have left, but with the love I have for the team I want to see them out of this situation. I will work hand in hand with the new coach and learn from him as we captain the Weslians ship,” said Hlophe.
‘Crooks’ has perceived Masocha as a good and experienced coach, whose experience can help the team if used accordingly.
Hlophe refrained from commenting about their salaries as coaches, as it has been disclosed that the new coach will be paid E8 000 monthly, while he is entitled to E6 000 monthly, which he claimed he had never received since rejoining the team before the end of last season.
“That’s a very sensitive issue and would love to reserve my comments on it for now. For now, let me focus on this new system in front of me and help Manzini Wanderers get back to its respectable position in local football. The salary issue can be very confusing if we can talk about it,” said Hlophe.
Wanderers introduced the nomadic Masocha just a few days before the end of the first round as a means to get better results, as the team had a string of poor results, which placed them within the relegation zone of the log table. Masocha said he had no problem working with Hlophe.
“I have agreed to join the team and I made it clear to them that I do not mind working with coach Nyanga Hlophe. I think he knows the team better and working with him can make things easier for me,” Masocha said.
