Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) Commissioner General, LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini, has handed over a newly constructed one-room house to Henry Nkambule (60), a Malindza resident living with a disability, in an initiative aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable members of society.
Nkambule has lived alone for many years under challenging conditions after suffering a stroke in the early 2000s that resulted in permanent disability. He was identified as a deserving beneficiary following an assessment conducted among needy residents in the Malindza area.
The house was built at an estimated cost of E26 000 through voluntary contributions from officers based at the HMCS Headquarters, as part of the department’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, which seeks to enhance community welfare and restore dignity to disadvantaged individuals.
The official handover was conducted on behalf of the Commissioner General by Commissioner Mancoba Nkambule, who applauded officers for demonstrating unity and compassion by extending their service beyond the correctional environment.
He also acknowledged the support received from the Malindza Indlunkhulu, traditional leaders and community members, whose cooperation contributed to the successful completion of the project.
The event was attended by Dvokodvweni Member of Parliament, Honourable Sifiso Shabalala, Indvuna Sipho Dlamini, Bucopho and residents, highlighting collective community support for social development initiatives.
The beneficiary Henry Nkambule, expressed gratitude to HMCS leadership and officers for the gesture, describing the house as a life-changing development that has restored his dignity and provided him with safety, comfort and renewed hope.
