Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III will be pleased with the progress of five major development projects valued at E30 million currently underway at Lunkuntu, near Big Bend.
Lunkuntu is one of the chiefdoms found under Nkilongo Inkhundla, in the Lubombo region. Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, who was pleased with the projects, said the King would definitely be happy with the progress seen within Lunkuntu. Dladla said this during a tour of the projects on Wednesday, February 5, 2026, where she engaged with the contractor, DK Enterprises, Cabinet ministers, government officials, and development partners.
Speaking in siSwati during the visit to a newly constructed primary school, the Deputy Prime Minister said, “Naye Wekunene utojabula,” meaning that the King would be pleased to learn of the progress being made on the projects.
Dladla said the purpose of the visit was to assess progress on development initiatives being implemented under the Ministries of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, Education and Training, and Health.
“We came here to assess progress in line with the Nkwe mandate, and we are satisfied with the work done so far. We expect these projects to be completed soon,” she said.
She further indicated that plans were already underway for Their Majesties to visit the area to bless and officially open the projects once construction is completed.
The development projects toured include the construction of a primary school, a community hall, a clinic, a shopping complex, and a bridge, all of which are expected to significantly improve service delivery and economic activity in the area.
Director of Microprojects at the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development, Sibusiso Mbingo, confirmed exclusively to Eswatini Positive News that the total cost of the five projects amounts to E30 million.
The Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo, Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Training Naniki Mnisi, and Nkilongo Member of Parliament Petros Sibandze, along with other government officials and community leaders from Nkilongo Inkhundla.
The projects form part of government’s broader efforts to promote community development, access to education and healthcare, and improved infrastructure, in line with national development priorities.
