COUNCIL OF SWAZILAND CHURCHES RESTORES SIGHT NATIONWIDE

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Council of Swaziland Churches continues to make a meaningful difference in communities across Eswatini through its ongoing reading glasses distribution project. With now 3000 people already benefitted from the initiative, the project is restoring clarity and confidence.

The project, which has already reached several areas across all four regions of the country, aims to support individuals with mild to moderate eyesight challenges, especially those struggling with reading and daily tasks due to poor vision.

Among the places visited so far are Mbabane West & East Inkhundla, Ludzeludze Inkhundla, Nkhaba Inkhundla, Mafutseni Inkhundla, Kwaluseni Inkhundla, Lobamba Police Station, Malkerns Town, Mahlanya, Manzini North Inkhundla, and Kukhanyokusha Zion Church in Nhlangano.

A representative from the Council of Swaziland Churches confirmed that the project is still ongoing, with more communities lined up to receive support in the future. “For those with more serious eye conditions, we refer them to hospitals and clinics for further diagnosis and treatment,” the representative said, highlighting that the project prioritises both access and proper care.

The distribution is carried out by trained staff and youth volunteers who ensure that recipients receive the right type of glasses based on their needs. While many beneficiaries are aged 35 and above, an age where age related vision decline often begins, the team also provides glasses to younger individuals when needed.

“Good vision is essential for everyday life, and we are committed to reaching as many people as possible,” the representative added. Through this initiative, the Council of Swaziland Churches not only improves eyesight but also empowers people to read, work, and live with dignity. The project continues to spread hope and opportunity, reminding communities that sometimes, a simple pair of glasses can change lives.
